How to Make a Brat Cover

Four steps, one canvas, no account. The whole look is a single line of lowercase text on flat brat green — the restraint is the design.

The whole method

The Brat cover is not a layout. It is one word, in a condensed sans, set small enough to leave a wide green margin on every side. Everything people recognise comes from that proportion: text low in the frame, generous space above, no border, no logo, no gradient.

Our editor starts you at that proportion. Type a word, and the tool keeps the margins and the type size balanced as you go, so a five-letter word and a nine-letter word both look like they belong on the same shelf.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Type one or two words

Lowercase, no punctuation. “brat” is the reference, but a name or a short phrase works — the shorter the line, the more the green does the talking.

  2. 02

    Keep the default typeface

Arial Narrow at 150 px with −4 px tracking is what most people mean by the brat look. If you want a different voice, the 18-font list in the advanced panel changes the character without breaking the proportion.

  3. 03

    Pick the green

The swatch row carries #8ACE00 first. If you need the exact value for a print job or a brand sheet, the colour page lists hex, RGB and the closest print match.

  4. 04

Export at the size you need

Classic mode exports the canvas exactly as it fills your screen. Advanced mode gives you 1:1, 4:5 and 5:4 frames plus 800, 1080 or 2048 px on the long edge — enough for a story post or a 12-inch print.

Questions

Do I need an account?
No. The editor renders in your browser and never uploads your text. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no export limit.
Can I use the result commercially?
Yes. The image is yours. Note that “Brat” and the album artwork are Charli XCX’s trademarks — using the style for your own project is fine, passing off a copy as official merchandise is not.
Why does my text look too big?
The reference cover leaves a margin of roughly one tenth of the width on each side. If your line touches the edge, reduce the type size in the advanced panel rather than shrinking the canvas.
