Brat in Cursive
The Brat cover uses a condensed sans. A cursive version is a remix — here is how to do it without losing legibility.
Open the editorCursive is a remix, not the original
The Brat artwork is set in a narrow, tightly spaced sans-serif, close to Arial Narrow in bold. There is no official cursive Brat font, and no cursive lettering on the album.
That does not stop it working. A script face keeps the colour and the square framing, and reads as a softer, more personal take on the same template — closer to a handwritten note than an album cover.
The trade-off is legibility. Script fonts have thin joins and decorative terminals, both of which disappear when the image is reduced to a feed thumbnail.

How to set it up
- 01
Choose a script font
Lobster is the closest script face in the generator. It is a single weight, so the size and spacing controls do the work instead of bold.
- 02
Reduce the size
Script needs more room than condensed sans. Drop the font size until the ascenders and descenders clear the canvas edge.
- 03
Loosen the letter spacing
Negative tracking is what makes the original cover feel like one block, and it is what turns script into an unreadable smear. Move it toward zero or slightly positive.
- 04
Keep the contrast
Black on #8ACE00 stays legible even with thin strokes. White on green does not — the joins vanish at small sizes.
- 05
Export large
A 2000px PNG gives the platform more to work with when it compresses the image, which matters more for script than for block type.
Cursive Brat questions
- Is there an official cursive Brat font?
- No. The album uses a condensed sans-serif. Cursive versions are fan remixes that keep the colour and layout but change the typeface.
- Which font is closest to a cursive Brat look?
- Lobster, which is included in the generator. It has the thick-thin contrast and connected feel of a script without the very fine hairlines that disappear on screen.
- Why does my cursive text look blurry?
- Usually too much negative letter spacing, or a font size that is too large for the canvas. Reset the spacing toward zero and reduce the size until the words fit with a margin.
- Can I mix cursive with the Brat green and patterns?
- Yes, and it is the combination that reads best: keep the green background and skip the pattern. Pattern overlays compete with thin script strokes.
